Back Home and gone away

For those of you who know where I work and wonder why I go all the. I decided to come home early and skip my physics class whatever the result may be. JK had a nice wedding. Short but nice. Got to see a lot of friends. way out to Avon, I work at Sam's Club not because I like to drive twenty minutes to work, but because they respect my convictions Then I went back to my summer employer and they hired me for a week. Great folks. But I have lots of major exams and projects coming up so this might be my last post for a long time. At least until I get a little breathing room in school. Happy reading.not to work on the Sabbath.

Of Walking Mice and Men

I got to walk today! I was standing up and ready to take my first step of six weeks as I watched the clock go to 12:00. I was really weird. My foot was like tingly and I could only go really slow. After I walked around the house a couple times, much to the amusement of Ross, I went to bed. This morning my foot was feeling pretty good so I went to the computer lab without my crutches. (from my car not my house) Then I went straight over to physics class. I should have taken my crutches because my heel was having a hard time adjusting to weight and my knee was giving out. I got back to my car after class and a very awkward painful running hop across the busiest street on campus. I got smart and took my crutches to Instrument ground class. I discovered that I didn't have my certificate from the Terminally Stupid Association (TSA) so I took the "Simulator Safety Awareness" course in fast forward and printed out another one. If you want to hear a pilot gripe ask them about theTSA. Anyway, we had a mouse visit class tonight. Some of the girls seemed quite perturbed, but our professor (a lady) was like Oh hush up, it's just food for some cat. And my day was over. I'm going to try walking without crutches again tomorrow.

Dilemma

Okay. So I have a really hard decision to make. I can either go home for Thanksgiving break on Friday evening and got to JK's wedding on Sat and be home and stuff, (I will have to skip one physics class) or I can stay up here until Monday afternoon for physics and go to the college group thing and then the talent show at the church up here. I can also go to the combined evening service of the Lafayette, Kokomo, and Elkhart churches if I stay. I don't care so much about the talent show, but I really want to go to the combined service, so I just have to decide if it's worth missing 36 hours with my family.
Question of the day: What would you do?
Question of the week: Would anybody back home (who has a car) want to go to the service in Kokomo?
Song of the post: Kokomo

Dial-up

dosen't work so very well. I couldn't load any pages all weekend. But that's okay because I had better stuff to do. Like study and clean my room and eagerly anticipate the arrival of my family on Saturday. They all came up to visit me for a day! Except for Nicole who had better things to do. But I was very happy anyway. Yesterday was Mom's birthday! Happy Birthday Mom! I'm sorry I was out of cake mix when you came up. Nothing really exciting happening this week except for two exams (Monday and Friday) and I get to start walking again! The doctor said I have to wait until Thursday, but I'm not sure I can hold myself back that long. Off to study the effects that convergent/divergent exhaust nozzles have on subsonic and supersonic air pressures and velocities.
Oh Yeah! Whoever was the first of four people to look at my post at 11:00 p.m. last Monday was my 1,000th visitor! Who are you?

Mood Swings

So my day was blah, good, disappointing, great, super, wonderful, horrid, okay, better, and good in that order. Up to great were my various classes from getting up to study at 7:30 and not stopping until 4:30. Then I got home and opened a pair super wonderful cards from one of my best friend's mom, and Grandma. Then I opened another letter (from an insurance company based on the philosophy of the devil) that said that I was supposed to pay for the windshield of the lady who hit me. YEAH RIGHT! HOW CAN THEY POSSIBLY DO THAT? I was incredulous to say the least. I went out and vented my frustrations into hacking a whole pile of brush into burnable sized pieces and roasting some hot dogs. They were okay. I thought it was cool that I could still chop through an inch diameter stick with one swing even though I haven't been able to work out for a while. Then Ross told me that the computer labs on campus should be open at least until nine, so I went over about an hour before CORPS to get some studying done. Computer labs close early on Fridays. But I did find a closer parking spot for the next time I want to head in there. I ended up laying (lying?) on the grassy mound outside HEAV and looking at the stars for about half an hour and then heading inside to read for another half hour. Finally the CORPS rally started and I got to see David and June again. Mr. Whitla spoke on history from a Christian perspective, and we got actual Psalm books to replace the four-Psalm pamphlets we have been singing out of for years. Then I came home and had dinner at 10:30. Now I am going to bed. Praying that all insurance companies spontaneously combust before I wake. Here is a secret message for the computer adept. I might write something interesting here next time. Probably not, but you never know.

Physics Test!!! Good Food!!!

Okay so I got online this morning and found out that I scored 69% on my physics test. I was like "bummer dude" and had various and sundry thoughts about dropping it. Then I was sitting in class and comparing scores with the rest of the folks who sit around me and I started figuring out how many problems I missed. My average seemed to come out of thirteen instead of the eleven they said they were grading, so I was like "Hmm, that's weird." just like that. So I just got on now, and they changed my score to 82%!!!! woo hoo!!!! Which means I might pass.

Most of you know Shu, my not-flight housemate, but if you don't he's from Japan and his dad's a missionary in Korea and he is currently the president of the Japanese Student Association. This weekend the JSA is going to have a Taste of Japan thing where anybody can come and get a ton of authentic Japanese food. It's going to be so good. And it will only cost like five bucks for a whole lot of food. You can also get half price if you become a JSA member. I've been talking to Shu about offering family memberships so my folks can come up for Mom's birthday dinner. If you want to know more leave me a comment or something.

Mom's birthday is this weekend!!! I'm not going to say how old she is (I still want to be welcome at home) but if you multiply her age and the year she was born, you would get a perfect square.

computer lab

So I got up this morning to see if my exam score was posted. But my dial up was not working at all. So I got dressed and headed down to the computer lab. All the parking spots are like a mile away from a computer lab. So I got on and they didn't have my score posted. So I checked email and blogs and xanga and more email and did you know how deep some blog conversations are? Wow! Some people really think. And some don't. So I don't want to leave because that means I have to hobble through a mile of stares and cold to get back to my car. But I need to go to the grocery and take advantage of the great corn dog deal. 60 dogs for $10!!!!!! Oh Yeah!!! I guess I'll have to stop by Burger King to get some more Ketchup.

Jingle Jangle Jingle

Hooray! My Physics exam is over! And I didn’t get hit by a car. It was thirteen problems, but they only counted eleven, so I could get two wrong and still score 100%. I took a wild guess on one problem. Does anybody know how to find the average density of a fish when you only have its weight in the air (200N), its weight submerged in water (15N) and the density of water (1x103 Kg./m3)? I sure didn’t. I made educated (uh huh, sure, that letter looks cool) guesses on two problems, and I should have had the other ten unless I made an “AAAARRRGGHHHHH >8# (gritting teeth and kicking self) ” mistake on them. So my score could be anywhere between 50% and 100% I think. If I get 100% I’m probably going to pass. If I get 50% I probably won’t. If my professor is working the score for my missed exam the way I think he is, this one is going to be worth the same as my final. But I not going to talk about it any more. It’s over and I did my best, and now I can focus on my powerplants exam coming up next week. What’s another name for an Afterburner? What are the two types of compressor and what is the compression ratio for each stage of an axial compressor? What effect do temperature and air density have on thrust? Those are the easy questions on my review sheet. If you want to know the answer ask Ross.

I’ve got spurs that Jingle Jangle Jingle,
As I go riding merrily along.
And they sing: “Ain’t you glad you’re single.”
And that song ain’t so far from wrong.

Anybody know where I can get a good pair of spurs for not too much?

A Day of Rest

Right now I am enjoying a particularly blessed Sabbath from all of my daily labors, worries about Physics exams etc... I really love the fourth commandment. It gives me a great excuse to put aside all of my puny little troubles and worship God for being the awesome Lord and King that He is. Dr. Don Kistler preached from Psalm 11 on the Love of God for those who do righteousness and His hatred for sinners and their sins. He said we cannot say that God loves the sinner and hates the sin any more than we can say that God loves righteousness and hates them that do it. The college class joined the adult class after the service and had a lively discussion on Free Will.
Verse of the day: That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost. Romans 15:16

Fun in black

Now that I got my cast off I get to wear a wonderful but hideous boot. It is big bulky black and ugly. But I love it cause I can take it off and enjoy a shower or just look at the six inch incisions on both sides of my foot. (Two of the most fun things I have done this week due to a certain PHYSICS EXAM looming up on Monday.) Anyway, I can wear most of my pants now, if I take off my boot and just wrap the leg up inside of it, but it looks really bad so I'm thinking about sticking with pants that I can slide over it when I have to go out in public. I was sitting in the waiting room doing what people normally do there- wait -and I saw this guy come in with one of the boots and I thought "That looks a lot uglier than the one Stacey got. I sure hope they don't give me that." But they did. But I can live with it especially if I get to start running again soon. Did I ever mention how much I love running? It's so much fun just going out for an hour or two, getting all sweaty and so sore you can barely move, and still not get anywhere because you just went in a circle. Although I must say it is more fun in Indy where the air dosen't have an oppressive stale old stench to it. Tell you what. On some days, the air up here just isn't fit to be breathed... no... actually it isn't fir for anything. I don't know how to describe it, but it stinks and it's hard to breathe. Yeah, so I told myself this would be short, so I better end now. Goodnight.

Running on empty

Wow. Five weeks left in the semester. Three real weeks, then a study week and finals. Sleep times are shrinking fast. I've got the sense of impending doom that comes from going full steam when you only have a little water left in the tank. I God hadn't given me His Word and Spirit I probably would have overheated by now. Anyway, I went to the doctor this morning and got my cast off!!!!!! Yay!!!! Happy!!!!!!! I thought about keeping it, especially since I got some more languages on it (the words of Peter in green greek), but it would just clutter up my already crowded room, so I had them throw it away. The doctor said I still can't put weight on it for two more weeks and I have to wear this boot thing for a long time, but I do get to move my ankle and take showers now. That will be really nice because I was starting to attain the appearance of a medieval peasant. I have a physics exam on Monday. And if history repeats itself, mom and dad better start heading up here sometime Monday morning so they can take me to the hospital.

Election day (as if you couldn't tell)

I would like to thank Ross for making this post easier by the generous donation of one of his extra mice. So my quiet time last Thursday brought me to Psalm 72 which says:
A Psalm for Solomon.
1 Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness unto the king’s son.
2 He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment.
3 The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness.
4 He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor.
5 They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations.
6 He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth.
7 In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.
8 He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river unto the ends of the earth.
9 They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust.
10 The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.
11 Yea, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.
12 For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper.
13 He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy.
14 He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall their blood be in his sight.
15 And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.
16 There shall be an handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit thereof shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth.
17 His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed.
18 Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.
19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.
20 The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended.

After I read that I was like "Wow! I can make this my prayer for the upcoming elections." We need God to give our leaders His judgments and His righteousness to our judges or America will continue on its downward tread no matter who gets elected. I really like verse 16, because I think God is saying that He will put a handful of godly men in congress and their work will shake the world. Then all the world will see the righteousness of our country and praise the Lord and call Him wondrous and glorious!

Half hour to class.

I get my cast off in 70 hours! If I go to the doctor and he says I have to wear it longer I think it might break me. I will grab him or fall at his feet and weep and be like "No no no no, please don't do this to me, I've been sitting around watching my body deteroriate and I can't take another week of it." But if he sees fit to give me a walking cast I will be like "O thank you thank you thank you!" and then I will go outside and run until my legs quit working and I fall in a heap, and I will sit in a heap for ten minutes and then I will run again until it is time for my next class. Election day is tomorrow. Get out and vote. Unless you are going to vote for the wrong person, in which case you should stay home. I think I lean more toward the doctrine of the OP church as opposed to the RP on women deacons because I was studying it and the Bible says "husband of one wife" as a qualification, which means that they would be men. (RP allows women deacons and OP does not) Tell me what you think. I get my cast off in 69.75 hours!
