It is now time
for me to shut up and listen.
exciting, fun, a little intimidating, definitely worth it.
about driving in the snow. >>>Don't get very close to the person in front of you, because you never know what they are going to do.<<< Fortunately it didn't take any mishaps on my part to learn it. I was riding with James back from MIT and we were coming down the Salsbury hill when a Sunfire in front of us did a graceful 180. Fortunately James, being a New Yorker, already knew what he was doing and kept us out of the way with his expert driving skills. So here's to a beautiful load of snow and safe drivers. I drove to the airport this morning and messed around in the empty half of the parking lot for a while to regain my feel for manuvering slick roads.
Here's to all the men out there past and present who are defending my country. God Bless you all.
I'm not a great player but everybody is nice and lets me tag along so its fun. And I get an occasional good hit. I really enjoy the CORPS group. I've finally motivated myself to start going on campus more and doing stuff with them and its been fun. Sunday evening I had a great conversation with the Blackwoods and the roomies. Deep and challenging. I really like conversations where both parties can validly challenge each other's beliefs and do it with the attitude of consideration and learning instead of just blowing up or coming in with the "duh of course I'm always right" mind set. If I ever fall into the latter mind set please tell me so, and I will probably hate you for a little (due to the I'm always right part), and then really appreciate your honesty for the rest of my life.
was really great. It was about coming out of the darkness and into the light. We also heard the testimonies of Cris Cox, Kelly Russel and Keith??? who I haven't met yet. All three took the vows to become communicant members, and Kelly was baptized. Session took a vote on Thursday on putting the new church plant in West Lafayette or far East Lafayette. Judging from previous conversation, I think they went for W.L., but the official presentation is next week so I'll say for sure then. In the college class, we finished up Judges and that is all I am going to say about that.
We (CORPS) watched Kingdom of Heaven last night. Nothing great in that movie. Watch it for free if you want an interesting view on religion and war, but don't pay money for it. After discussing the movie for a long time and having a food wrapper fight, a lot of us went to green gables and played computer games/ watched movies/ talked/ whatever for a long time. I walked home in the fresh snow and got to bed at about 6 a.m. I thought it was an awfully bright night, till I got inside and looked at the clock and realized that it was the sun coming up. Normally I would kill myself for staying out so late and not getting much done today, but it's dead week and all my projects are done, so it's all good.
I took three quizzes/exams in two hours for my three classes today. After that I sat in a computer lab and finished planning my retirement. I took me forever cause I had to teach myself how to do some advanced formulas in excel. I got done and ran over to the CoRec, but they were out of men's basketballs already, so I just ran home. I think they messed up the scales in there cause I'm reading ten pounds below average.
And it started out with a beautiful snow! I woke up this morning and everything was so peaceful and calm. It's a lot of fun to walk while it's snowing, all the little flakes getting stuck to your hoodie and blowing in your face so you have to squint. Two years ago I only walked to get somewhere and didn't really enjoy it that much, but now I'm finding that I really like it. I could just go on for miles and miles. Last week I brought Caleb's bike up here so I could ride it for the next few weeks since mine broke, but I haven't ridden it once yet. I pumped up the tire on Monday with Ross's pump, so I could get the right pressure in, but after I returned his keys and was walking out to ride to class I heard this WHOMP. and... The tire exploded! It was the biggest hole I have ever seen in a tube before. So anyway, I've been walking since.
